Next, we moved to Wind Cave National Park. At the campground, we attended a night presentation about the importance of fire, its elements, and benefits. The next morning we were the first in line for a cave tour. We went on two tours of different sections of the cave. We learned about boxwork, frostwork, popcorn, flowstone, and popcorn looking formations.
Here is a picture of Little Guy playing with a bison's horn at the visitor center.
While walking the cave I remember the creation story we heard from the Lakota family at Crazy Horse Memorial. In it, Native Americans lived inside Wind Cave. They were tempted by the God Inktomi to emerge. We saw the natural entrance and imagined what it must have been like to emerge from such darkness.
