Vacation Learning: Costa Rica #3

For our second adventure we headed out to one of the top tours in Costa Rica.  This tour included a visit to a coffee plantation where big Sister was able to pick coffee beans.

Next, we visited Poás Volcano. When we arrived it was completely covered with clouds. A few minutes later the wind picked up speed and moved the clouds out of the way. It revealed to us the amazing beauty of an incredible place.

Our final destination for the day was La Paz waterfalls and gardens. This is one of my favorite places to visit. We were there for about 5 hours exploring, hiking, and enjoying local food. The gardens were gorgeous, and the park staff were welcoming and friendly.

For our little entomologist-want-to-be it was heaven. He was able to see his favorite rhino beetles. Above you can also see him at the butterfly garden.

Hummingbirds are out in a small open air area. They were not shy at all.

At the feline house, we were able to see this cute ocelots.  I am not a fan of animals kept in captivity, but these two were kissing each other😍

Off course my kids were going to get on the ox cart! This was available for taking pictures.

The frog and toad house was my favorite. The tree frog was just sleeping and posing for pictures.

We walked/hiked a lot to see all the 5 waterfalls. It was worth every step of the way. We also had the chance to play in the water for a while and truly feel surrounded by nature.

By far, the kids favorite part was holding the toucans.
