Tuesday was a gorgeous and very productive day. The kids started off with their journals. Little Guy wrote about his grandfather visiting us. Big Sister wrote about our visit to the butterfly house the week before.
Both kids are reading and reading. Big Sister is a confident Spanish reader. Little Guy still needs some practice with small words before moving on to sentence reading.
Big Sister was skip counting by 10s, 5s, and 2s. She used the Montessori beads, and made her labels.
I enlarged the tree silhouette cards, laminated, and cut them to create puzzles. The Full Option Science System website sells this puzzles for $14.50 each. I liked how mine came out for a fraction of the cost. I made 8 puzzles.
We headed to Cantigny for a picnic lunch and some exploring time. Above their grandpa and I were watching them climb the tanks, and run around.
We spent a lot of time in the idea garden. It is a beautiful area created with children in mind. Above you can see the kids running under the pergola. Big Sister and I were counting by two as we passed each pair of columns.
As the kids were climbing the tree, they found a very interesting caterpillar. Right away, they wanted to show it to the expert!
The rest of the afternoon, the kids kept on looking for bugs. The big spider above actually came down right on top of my father-in-law's hat! Luckily, it went up its web right away.
Little Guy made a bug friend. These days he says he wants to be an entomologist.
