The butterflies are coming out pretty soon! We can already see the black and orange from the monarch's wings inside the chrysalis.
Here is Little Guy's final work. Inside his butterfly folder he asked two questions: 1. What do caterpillars eat? 2. What do butterflies eat? He also had a piece of paper to show its metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly.
Once we started doing research about the butterfly's diet, we learned about how it eats. I printed a coloring picture of the parts of the head. Finally, I stapled his monarch life cycle at the bottom.

The front and back of his folder include his alphabet sheet, and the migration map.
Here is Big Sister's learning folder. If you click on the pictures, you can see that hers is a bit different. She wondered about how caterpillars and butterflies defend themselves from predators. She also wanted to include the butterfly's diet, the head, parts of the butterfly, and the life cycle booklet she made.
I asked both kids if they had any questions about butterflies. Both of them seem satisfied with their findings. We used books, google, experts at the butterfly house, and the actual specimens to our find answers.
