We have been busy with company. My friend came to visit us from KY with her two kids. Again we had a 2, 3, 4, and 5 year old playing together! They arrived on Tuesday and left us on Thursday afternoon. I was unable to blog because I spent all my free time (after the kids were sleeping) catching up with my friend. We did visit the learning room on Tuesday (see pictures below); but we were out and about with our friends the other days.
Home Learning 10/7/14
We had a long morning waiting for our friends and we took full advantage of it.
Little guy counting.
Big sister testing the Spanish pink series extra board. She used two when she was learning to read. I came up with a new one for her brother but he is not ready for them yet. Big sister was able to do this work accurately and at a great speed!
Little guy reading games. This is my second set of image and their corresponding label cards. They include only words with the 5 vowels and the letters m and p.
He is able to sound each letter. He guesses what it says by looking at the available pictures.
Then to his writing practice... I made a copy of the image cards in one sheet of paper. He cut them and glued them to his writing notebook.
Once in his notebook he matched them again to the label cards.
Finally, he copied the word from the label card on his own!
Some listening to reading, and work on writing (journal)
I am determine to include math as an option. They were excited to find stickers, a grid notebook, and the sandpaper numbers in the now labeled math drawer. The little guy worked on writing the numbers 1 and 2.
Big sister wrote up to 9. She also used the fish sticker to count.
Big sister was really into numbers. She continue adding cut out fishes. It was the first time she learned about the addition symbols + and =
A transferring activity using a picker and marvels in a shark shaped ice tray.
That afternoon our friends arrived and we were out with them a lot.
On Wednesday we all went to the pool and our favorite park.
While the two year old was napping in his stroller, the older kids and I saw this praying mantis cross the board walk to the other side of the pond.
It is hard to see, but there were turtles' heads sticking out of the water.
On Thursday we went to the apple orchard and the pumpkin patch (they are across the street from each other)
And they played, and played , and played!
