Catching fish

To conclude our learning about fish, my daughter and I had planned a day to go "fishing."  On Friday the weather was perfect for outdoor adventure. We took their two little nets, a container, and one tray, and went to the nearby pond to catch some fish and later compare them to our goldfish.

First we had to find out where they live.

We noticed how fast they were.  They were hard to catch!

The kids collected 5 of the little fish.  We think they are guppies, but we won't know for sure until they grow a little bit more.

What do you think?
While doing our observations we discovered that they will eat the same food we give the goldfish.  They like to hide under the elodea plant, and they are way faster at swimming when compared with the goldfish.
They are not golden or anything close to orange like the goldfish.  We are keeping them in the water we collected at the pond and slowly cleaning it up with the water we got from the fish store. We learned that we have to be patient because the water from the store is too clean and needs some bacteria for the fish to thrive.
