On Sunday, my husband's parents and uncle came for a visit and some sight seeing. They live over an hour away, and it is always such a treat for the kids to see them.
First we went to visit an apple orchard. We had lunch. The kids got to also play for a while
Instead of apples, the kids got to pick peas
They played by the tractors, and tossing the bean bags.
Afterwards we went to the annual Kite Fest at NIU.
The big sister wanted to draw and make her own kite.
The little guy got to fly his kite
Back at home, grandpa gave, and read a book to them. It is titled The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night. It is based on the folk song grandpa has been singing to the kids for the past few years. The book was illustrated by Peter Spier.
