Home (and beyond) learning 8/21/14 part 2

The big girl had an exciting day today.  After the daily activities (listen to reading, work on words, and reading to self) were covered, she was able to put working on writing to great use.  For a while I have been trying to find her a pen-pal.  She loves writing!  Finally today, we had a breakthrough in our search.  A few days ago, I stumbled upon this site: www.skolinks.com. They are based in France, and they help people connect with potential pen-pals.  A teacher can actually sign her whole class up to have correspondence with a class across the world.  As I stated my needs, the administrator (Nicolas) replied to my add and told me he has a son who would like to connect via mail!  We sent him a letter right away.

Writing the letter: She dictated, and then she copied it. It turned out to be a page and a half!

At the post office! She wanted to do it by herself, and she even used her own money to buy the stamp.

She is eager to get a reply!

If you are interested in connecting through mail, I encourage you to give it a try.  You can use the site www.skolinks.com.  There are other sites too, but you need to pay a small fee:  PenPalWorld, or International PenFriend.
If you want to connect with us, click on the tab at the top of the home page to get our P.O. box info.  We will be delighted to get to know you by mail!
